Perfume - Spending All My Time [Single Review]

Ello everyone! How's your health?

As you all know, I love Perfume. The Japanese technopop unit. And they have their new single "Spending All My Time" set to be released this Wednesday (15th August 2012).

But somehow Perfume fans have leaked out the whole single. So here's my review.

[Covers]

Limited Edition

The limited edition cover looks okay. Just have a bit of a peeve with that font they used. But it is an interesting cover to see from a group like them.

[Fanboy mode]
OMG! IT SEEMS LIKE KASHIYUKA'S GONNA FALL AND NOCCHI'S GONNA CATCH HER. A~Chan looks like she has given up hope on her Nocchan moments (In the PV) =P

Regular Edition

Ah the regular edition.. It looks kinda plain. And why on earth would Kashiyuka stand on a chair. Haha, anyway I love how Nocchi looks so sophisticated. One more good point, no cheesy font. ^_^

[Song]

1) Spending All My Time

Honestly, I can understand why a lot people didn't like the direction Perfume was going after they were promised by Universal (their new label) that they wouldn't change their style for the sake of promoting in the West. Spending All My Time is a dance track that is obviously influenced by the Western sounds that dominate the American Top 40.

Yet I like it. =P
Perfume themselves objected to singing this song originally as it had only English lyrics. But they persuaded their producer, Nakata Yasutaka to add a bit of Japanese lyrics in the end. Anyway, the song has definitely grown on me but I wouldn't have it on repeat like some of their other songs like Laser Beam and Love The World. But it is definitely and earworm after a while.

2) Point

I won't get into much detail about the history of the song. But it was released as a teaser in a advertisment Perfume did back earlier this year.

The song's electronica influence can definitely be heard and I think its a very cute and poppy song of theirs. Its a plethora of sound effects that make it very funky and enjoyable. ^_^

3) Hurly Burly

Hail the almighty Hurly Burly! I love Hurly Burly even though its 5 minutes long. When they first performed the intro at an event, the intro was so banging that I was like

"OMG!!!!! WAHHH!!!!!"

Perfume returns to familiar territory with this song as it sounds like it would fit their previous materials. When it comes to the chorus, I just feeling like getting up and dancing.

4) Spending All My Time -Original Instrumental-

One of the few things that Perfume does when they release a single is have their coupling original instrumentals fitted in. Honestly, I love it as I can hear some small sound effects that Nakata might have put in.

In terms of Spending All My Time's instrumentals, I guess its okay. I do like the small sound effects that sound like the synthesizer just gone haywire in those micro seconds you can hear. Oh, because of the song's simple structure, I can finally sing a Perfume song on Karaoke without referring to the lyrics. *Hallelujah*

5) Point -Original Instrumental-

Without Perfume's vocals, this can really sound like a laidback track to chill. I love that harp sound. But I love it even more cuz this is perfect for me to listen while doing my school work. ^_^

6) Hurly Burly -Original Instrumental-

They didn't remove the "woohoo~ woohoo~" for this instrumental but I'm think its great they left it there. It's very bubbly and its a great mood lifter. I definitely gonna have this on for repeat.

In terms of the songs, my fav would definitely be Hurly Burly for it's shear awesomeness. ^_^

[Promotional Video]

I read from a blogger that Perfume has never ceased to impress with their promotional video since One Room Disco and I agree.

With the concept of psychic girls, there is some Nocchan going on here. So for Nocchan shippers, rejoice!

Like the song's repetitiveness, there are some parts of the PV that repeat itself, so I found that suitable.

They've implement their "See no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil" concept once again. Also, those intricate hand movements, GOSH HOW DO THEY DO IT. *retreats to lair to learn the hand movements*

Overall, they didn't disappoint. And because of the PV, the song grew on me more. ^_^

[Poster]

They've replaced the words in the limited edition with their logo. It looks fine. Looks a bit bland since they just used the limited edition cover again. Oh well...

[Verdict]

A very solid release by my favourite group. Those who don't like Spending All My Time have Hurly Burly to fanboy/girl over. I'm still waiting for my copy to come though. Once it does, I shall review the packaging and the insides of the single as well. ^_^

If any of you have any recommendations on how I review, please do comment.

Thanks again. Bye bye. And much love to you!

Perfume!

Hi alls! I'mma back! How is your day? How is your health? =P

As the title suggests, today's post is about Perfume. Yeap Capitalized.

Its not this Perfume though.

Not this at all. =P

The Perfume I'm talking about is this Perfume.

Yeap. This Perfume.

If you're still confused on what or who these people are. Perfume is 3 member Japanese Electropop group from Hiroshima (remember the atomic bomb? Aiyah, that's history).

I discovered Perfume in 2011 which is fairly late as they made their debut in the year 2001. I was very into K-pop in 2011, and when Perfume was invited to Korea for a song festival, I was curious and clicked on the video titled "Perfume - Polyrhythm".

To cut a long story short, I have become a fan of Perfume since that day and have not regret since. I know some people are not fond of their voices but I do. =)

Perfume really changed my life and introduced me other parts of music that I have never heard such as their cover of The Cardigan's "Lovefool" introduced me to The Cardigans. And other numerous moments as well. ^_^

Anyway, this post is getting a bit too wordy so I shall leave you guys with some of my favourite songs from them. =)

Love The World (2008)

Macaroni (2008)

Spring Of Life (2012)

I do hope you enjoy these videos of them. If your interest has been sparked, please do google more about their music and the members themselves.  ^_^ Spread the Perfume love~!

And for a bonus, here's their Lovefool cover originally by The Cardigans. ^_^

And I bid you a farewell! Haha, I won't be so formal la.
Have a nice day and bye bye~! And bye bye from these three gorgeous ladies. ^_^

A Matter of Weight and Health

Admit it.

Most of us tried to.

Which brings me to another topic. Losing weight doesn't exactly equate to being healthy. So let us all take a different approach to this.

You!

Yeah You!

Don't you sleep right now! This can be important to you. =P

What causes weight gain? And ultimately obesity which can cause a variety of ailments.

Is it this?

Or is it this?

Actually its both. In this world of ours which values instant gratification, I guess it would suffice to say that all of us are getting lazier and lazier by the second. As compared with previous generations where meat was a luxury and working hard for your food was common, we have already become a lazy bunch.

So I won't go into the technicalities of this topic. But I would like challenge you readers to this.

If you're overweight or obese, get your lazy ass of this computer or the television and get to know how to treat your body well. I'm not saying to go on an anorexic diet (which will not work in the end by the way), but give your body the respect it deserves by giving it some wonderful nourishment such as exercise and some nutrient dense food. =)

If you're underweight or just think you're too skinny, it may because your body is craving the energy it needs to survive. Try researching and googling about how to gain an extra few kilos HEALTHILY!

But that doesn't mean you can't have a Big Mac from time to time. Hehe. =P

I myself have been struggling with my weight since I was 10. So I guess we can go thru this journey together. ^_^ Let's all live a healthier life, okay?

[I know this is a first post and all but come on, gimme a break, I'm just a beginner blogger. =P]

Bye bye everyone! And lots of love to you!
